Europlanet Joint Research Activities

Within the Europlanet project, scientists will develop the infrastructure for planetary research in Europe, and improve the quality of facilities, models, software tools and services offered. Europlanet is sponsored by the European Union within the 7th Framework Program (FP7).

Technical University Berlin will be particularly concerned with JRA1, the infrastructure development in support of planetary missions. JRA1 will focus and strengthen European expertise in the areas of planetary dynamics, geodesy and cartography, essential for planetary mission planning, operation, and science data analysis. It will provide planetary scientists with planning products, such as planetary and spacecraft ephemeris data, planetary shape and gravity models, planetary constants, and various planetary topographic maps, with unified data formats, documentation, and interactive access. It will also carry out joint activities with the large community of amateur astronomers.
